Brief History

The Rexel Group is the world leader in the distribution of electrical parts and installation equipment with more than 2,600 sales outlets worldwide.

Formerly GEC Lighting, Electrical Wholesale and Video, in 1998 GEC Australia was acquired by Rexel International. Additional acquisitions led to the recent establishment of Rexel Group Australia as a parent company for Rexel’s Australian operations.

Rexel Australia operates in every state with a total of 71 branches plus a project office in each state and an export department in Queensland.

Rexel Electrical Supplies’ long history and experience, as part of an electrical engineering company and now a member of a worldwide electrical distribution specialist uniquely positions Rexel to provide its customers with the latest in a diversified range of products, global purchasing power, stronger strategic supply alliances with international manufacturers and benefits from distribution efficiencies.
